Shinrin-yoku and wildlife tracking are experiential practices.
Just like yoga, meditation, or a martial art:
- Guided practice in-person with an instructor is beneficial to start and/or deepen your practice, and gives you the opportunity to experience new sites or seasons with support.
- Resources can offer a guided experience on your own (recordings, written instructions) to help you practice at home.
- Read about the practice to find inspiration, ideas, and instruction, but won’t give you the experience.
- Develop a habit of personal practice to yield the greatest benefits for your mental and physical health.
- Invite a friend to join you in your practice to share the joy and increase the likelihood you’ll keep going.
